Gatorland is a theme park, and more importantly a wildlife preserve located in Kissimmee, Florida. It was founded in 1949 and is still privately owned by the same family today. It is self-titled as the “Alligator Capital of the World” Gatorland features an amazing attraction of thousands of alligators and crocodiles, a breading marsh with a wooden boardwalk that surrounds it, an observation tower, and many more animal-themed attractions that will both educate and entertain the entire family. The Gatorland Park is features a whopping 110 acres, and is open year round.
Gatorland Park features a breeding marsh that lets guests see live alligators and crocodiles in their natural habitat, bringing a rare occurrence to the guests eyes. Not only does the park boast a breeding marsh, it also entertains guests with an interactive reptile show. These shows include wrestling, death defying feats performed with alligators and crocodiles alike, and even simple feeding of the reptiles. Somehow, even though the park does not have a wide variety of activities, the Gatorland Park has done quite well for itself over the past 60 years, making quite the name for itself.
The park also has an aviary, an interesting addition for reptilian park. For those of you who do not know, an aviary is a large enclosure for confining birds, much similar than that the Busch Gardens bird enclosure. On top of this, Gaterland also has a petting zoo that will allow both children and parents a fun and entertaining way to escape from the tension filled reptile parts of the park. If that isn’t enough, the park also allows you to get up-close and personal with reptiles and hold a baby gator in your hands, and a snake around your neck for a photograph, a perfect memory for anyone.
Overall the Gatorland park in Kissimme Florida is a fun and entertaining way to get away from the thrills of the big amusement parks. From reptiles to birds, and even an assortment of animals, Gatorland has something for every animal lover. It even includes an newly installed attraction of a Zip Line, which allows guests to travel across a pool of Alligators and past several existing attractions (the zip-line is one of the longest available, spanning across 1,200 feet (370 meters) and descends several stories to a landing pad near the boardwalk). With Gatorland Park not being a conventional theme park that many are used to, the break from conventional parks will be well appreciated once you experience it.
